Air Marshal Rakesh Sinha, AVSM, Deputy Chief Of Integrated Defence Staff (Ops)
Air Marshal Rakesh Sinha, AVSM assumed the appointment of Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Ops) on 01 Jan 25.
Air Marshal Rakesh Sinha graduated with 70th Course of National Defence Academy and was commissioned in the Fighter Stream of Indian Air Force on 13 Jun 1987. He is a fighter striker leader, an alumnus of Defence Service Staff College, Wellington and Royal College of Defence Studies, UK. The air officer has also undergone Joint and Combined War Fighting Course at USA.
Air Officer during his career achieved fully Ops Status on various ac – namely – MiG-21 FL, MiG-21 M, MiG-27, SU-30 and Bison. Although he has maximum experience on MiG-27 ac, he has varied flying experience across the entire fighter fleet of Indian Air Force and has more than 2800 hours of flying to his credit.
He has commanded a MiG-27 Squadron which has maritime role. He was the Commandant of Prestigious institution of IAF-TACDE (Tactical Air Combat Development Establishment) and has commended a premier fighter base in the eastern sector. The Air Officer also held Operational staff appointments of Ops 1A & CATSPAW at HQ EAC and Air-I at HQ WAC. He was Principal Director Ops (Weapons) and Air Commodore Air Staff Inspection at Air Headquarters. In the rank of Air Vice Marshal, he has held the appointment of Air Defence Commander, Central Air Command and Assistant Chief of Air Staff Operations (Offensive) at Air HQ. He has held the appointment of Deputy Commander-in-Chief, Strategic Forces Command and Senior Air Staff Officer Headquarters Southern Air Command prior to taking over the present appointment Deputy Chief Of Integrated Defence Staff (Ops).
The Air Officer is recipient of ‘Ati Vishist Seva Medal’.
He is married to Mrs Neelam Sinha and they have two sons.
