Air Marshal MS Sridhar, AVSM, Deputy Chief Of Integrated Defence Staff (MED)

Air Marshal MS Sridhar, AVSM is an alumnus of AFMC Pune from where he graduated in 1986 and successfully completed MS Surg in 1992. He completed his MCh (Neuro Surgery) from NIMHANS Bangalore in 2002. He is the first Neurosurgeon in IAF.

During the initial years of service, he was posted as MO in HQ EAC (U). He underwent MS Surg from AFMC Pune and also appointed as a Clinical Tutor in Surgery in the same institution. Subsequently, he served as Surgical Specialist at 7AFH and 10 AFH before being selected for study leave for pursuing MCh (Neuro Surg) from NIMHANS, Bangalore. He has also been posted as Classified Specialist in Surg & Neurosurgery at CHAFB and Command Hospital (Central Command). Later he served as HOD & Senior Adviser and Consultant Neurosurgery at Army Hospital (R&R). He was Dy Comdt and Comdt at CHAF Bangalore where he spearheaded the management of all the three waves of Covid-19.

Before assuming the appointment of DCIDS (Med), he tenated the appointments of Assistant Chief of the Air Staff (Medical) at Air HQ (RKP). He is the National convener for Neurosurgery in National board of Examination. He is an examiner for RGUHS, KIMS Hyderabad and NIMHANS Bangalore for MCh Neurosurgery and NBE for DNB Neurosurgery. He has undergone mass casualty and disaster management course in Haifa Israel in 2009.

He was commended by the CAS in Jan 2015, AOC-in-C Training Command IAF in Oct 2008 and GOC-in-C HQ Central Command in Jan 2007. He is also commended by the then Dy Defence Minister of Afghanistan in the year 2016 for his service to the defence personnel of Afghanistan in AH (R&R).

His hobbies are listening to music and reading.

The Air Officer is married to Mrs H Uma who is a homemaker and they are blessed with two sons.
