Rear Admiral Sanjay Sachdeva, NM, DG DCYA
Rear Admiral Sanjay Sachdeva, NM is an alumnus of Naval Academy and passed out as second in overall order of merit. He got commissioned on 01 July 1991. His initial tenures included commissioning navigating officer of INS Sujata, Executive Officer of IN LCU L-33 and Commanding Officer of INS Astravahini.
Upon completion of specialisation course in Navigation and Direction (ND), tenures on board Amini, Gharial and, Trishul were interspersed with instructional tenures at ND School and Project 1135.6 Training Team for Talwar class ships.
On academic front, the Officer attended 61st Staff Course at DSSC Wellington and qualified with DS Grading. He was awarded CNS Gold Medal for the best paper on operational issues during Naval Higher Command Course (2014). In 2018, he attended National Defence College Course at National Resilience Institute, Jakarta, Indonesia.
In his command tenures, the officer had the privilege to command four ships ,viz. Astravahini, Nashak, Shardul and Trishul. As a Commodore, he also had the privilege to command Local Naval Defence (LND) assets as the Naval Officer-in-Charge (Maharashtra). His staff appointments includes Staff Officer (ND) to Flag Officer Sea Training, Fleet Navigating Officer Eastern Fleet and Command Plans Officer at Headquarters Western Naval Command. He headed the Directorate of Strategy, Concepts and Transformation at Naval Headquarters prior to promotion to the Flag rank. Upon promotion, he was appointed as Senior Directing Staff (Navy) at National Defence College, Delhi in Feb 23. He took over the helm of Defence Cyber Agency on 01 Jul 24. The officer was conferred upon with Nao Sena Medal for devotion to duty in 2022.
He is an avid reader and loves to travel. He is married to Mrs Sarita Sachdeva. The couple is blessed with two children.

A framework for enhancing the Cyber posture of Defence Forces was approved by the GoI/ MoD in 2018. DCyA and Army, Navy and Air Force Cyber Groups along with certain other structures have been established to protect & defend the Defence Forces Information & Communication Technology assets.

DCyA has contributed significantly to enhance the ‘Cyber Security Posture’ of the Defence Forces including: -

Increased synergy between Ministry of Defence Cyber groups & other National Cyber Agencies.

Improved defensive measures put in place to protect data using hardened tech, effective monitoring, safe practices, improved user awareness, standardised processes & audit measures.

Better preparedness to respond cohesively to incidents using centralised threat databases, libraries & incident records.
